ND SHAPE works in cooperation with SHAPE America to recognize outstanding teachers and others in the education
field. Nominations received by May 15 will be considered for the current calendar year.
SHAPE America sponsored awards include:
- Adapted Physical Education (K-12)
- Elementary Physical Education (K-5)
- Middle School Physical Education (6-8)
- High School Physical Education (9-12)
- School Health Education (K-12)
- Dance Education (K-12)
ND SHAPE sponsored awards include:
- College/University Health Teacher of the Year
- College/University PE Teacher of the Year
- Athletic Director of the Year
- Administrator of the Year
- Donna Terbizan Meritorious Award
- Pathfinder Award
To nominate someone for an award, please fill out the form below.
Nominations submitted before May 15 will be considered for the current calendar year’s awards.
Educators who meet the eligibility requirements below and exemplify the criteria for these awards may apply for one of the ND SHAPE
America Teacher of the Year awards.
- Current ND SHAPE membership
- Minimum five years of teaching experience
- Degree and certification in teaching
- Full time teaching at time of application submission & selection
- Minimum of 50% of total job responsibilities is teaching one of the following (in the award you are nominating for):
– Physical Education
– Adapted Physical Education
– Dance Education
– School Health Education - Certified Adapted Physical Educator (CAPE) or eligible to sit for the Certified Adapted Physical Educator exam (eligibility= 200 hrs. of practicum experience, at least 12-credit hours in APE) is desirable. For Adapted Physical Education award ONLY.
